Who We Are

Two thousand years ago, the philosopher Seneca wrote to a friend, “No one ever became wise merely by chance.” These words still ring true today. But what does it mean to be wise? How does one actually live the good life? J.W. Bertolotti founded the Perennial Leader Project (PLP) because he saw a deep need to explore and integrate timeless principles and practices for modern living. We believe that wisdom and practices (tools for the art of living) can deepen connection and meaning in our complex world.

OUR MISSION

Introduce wisdom and practices to help us live our highest good.

What We Do

Our programs are focused on the common good. As Marcus Aurelius advised, “Meditate often on the interconnectedness and mutual interdependence of all things in the universe. For in a sense, all things are mutually woven together and therefore have an affinity for each other...” Searching for wisdom has never been a solo endeavor; therefore, our tools for the art of living are designed to bring together seekers and curious minds interested in living their highest good.

  • Meditations: Perennial Meditations (on Substack) is our daily newsletter; there, you’ll gain access to tools for the art of living.

  • Podcasts: In Search of Wisdom is our flagship podcast; there, you’ll find conversations with leading thinkers on the art of living.

  • Courses: We offer three courses: Wisdom is the Way (Jan-Mar), Perennial Habits (Apr-May), and Happiness & the Meaning of Life (Sep-Nov).

J.W. BERTOLOTTI

Who am I? I’m still figuring that out, but as for what I do, first and foremost, I’m a father to two great kids and husband to my wonderful wife. Much of my adult life was spent serving on active duty in the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from the military, I founded the Perennial Leader Project to dedicate my efforts to searching for and spreading tools for the art of living. I enjoy contemplating perennial questions and exploring the intersection of various philosophical and spiritual traditions.
